Newsflash
The goal of a terrorist is to cause terror. If we give in to fear, their goal is achieved. If we refuse to be terrorized, then the ultimate loss is theirs.

Jeanine Pirro and our Privacy

"Marcis Pappas, of the New York state chapter of NOW, said her group supports Jeanine Pirro "completely for fighting back on this intrusion."

"It's absolutely horrendous the government would intrude on anyone's life in this way," she said. "They are targeting her because she is a woman. If anyone believes in the right to privacy, they should be enraged by the behavior by our government."

Oddly enough, I don't find the leak surprising - it's politicals afterall. Neither do I buy into the "she's a woman argument". However, what I do find surprising is the general misinformation that takes place, the lack of knowledge. Sitting in the train today, surrounded by a party of two men and three women discussing the investigation, I found myself having to interject to both correct and provide factual information.

The general consensus, is that the laws for both surveillance cameras and tape recorders are the same - when it simply isn't true. Alhough it is legal to install surveillance cameras in places where there is no reasonable expectation of privacy - the same is not true for voice/tape recorders. Participants of the conversation must know they're being recorded.

Wouldn't it be great if instead of having the news stations fixate on the trials of the Pirro's or on the latest "color alert", they would instead do something beneficial for the American people. Say, I don't know, educate them on their rights.

As for Jeanine Pirro, she will continue in the race for attorney general and will launch a federal investigation to discern who leaked these top secret conversations. As for the allegations, Pirro said that she had talked with the police commissioner about her desire to tape her husband, but denied any taking took place.
