Recent data indicates a significant decrease over the past few years in the interception of narcotics and the identification of fraudulent immigration documents, especially at airports.
Police Pursuing Digital Hookups to Security Cameras 8/26/05
Kansas City Police are working with federal housing officials to place four
portable security cameras at various public-housing locations.
The
surveillance cameras would be capable of eventually sending digital images directly to police cars. Officers dispatched to those locations could then see what was happening there before arriving.
Masters said the Police Department is also encouraging businesses or neighborhood groups that are planning to buy
cameras for security to consider buying equipment that would be compatible with the department’s equipment.
