The goal of a terrorist is to cause terror. If we give in to fear, their goal is achieved. If we refuse to be terrorized, then the ultimate loss is theirs.
According to high school Principal Don Schelke, the
security cameras will be placed by entryways to the school. More cameras will be added later as funding becomes available.
"There is a lot of traffic (in the school) after school until we close up at 9 p.m.," Schelke said. "(With the
surveillance cameras), we can see who is in the building during school and after school."
He said the school administration surveyed staff to see what the district's needs are. The administration, as well as other Sanilac County schools, met with Sanilac County Emergency Management Director Todd Hillman and came up with the plan to install the
surveillance cameras to add safety to the school environment.
