The goal of a terrorist is to cause terror. If we give in to fear, their goal is achieved. If we refuse to be terrorized, then the ultimate loss is theirs.
Surveillance Equipment Coming to Churchill County High School By Marlene Garcia 9/15/05
The Churchill County School District won approval for a $100,000 grant to provide
surveillance equipment and fencing for the high school parking lot.
Superintendent Carolyn Ross said the district would have to put in $50,000 as a requirement of the Community Oriented Policing Grant.
Ross said details about the type of
surveillance equipment will be worked out and the equipment will be installed as soon as possible to increase safety at the high school.
She hopes to qualify for a similar grant this year to add
surveillance cameras to hallways on campus. The district would have to come up with another $50,000 to qualify for the $100,000 from the Federal Government.
"We have prioritized what our needs are and have a feeling it will be for more surveillance in the halls," Ross said. We're going to be doing a
security camera kind of thing."
She said
surveillance would focus on prevention of crime and increased safety in student areas.
